REGISTRATION:  Although the deadline to register is April 14th, please consider the time necessary to acquire a Chinese travel visa, based on your country of residence.


COST TO REGISTER: Registration cost is $225 U.S. ($175 U.S. for students). Registration cost includes a one-year membership (a $70 U.S. value) in ISCSC; an opportunity to present at the conference; subscription to Comparative Civilizations Review, the ISCSC professional journal; and the many benefits of affiliation with scholars around the world.


HOSTS: Our hosts at Suzhou (Soochoo) University are Professors Fang Han Wen, Director of Comparative Literature and Comparative Civilizations, and Shi Yuanhui, Vice Dean School of Foreign Languages. Professor Fang is ISCSC Vice President of Coordination to China.


HOTEL AND SUGGESTED ARRIVAL: Conference participants should plan to arrive in Suzhou (Soochow) by June 14th, at least one day prior to the initial conference date, for hotel check-in. Our hosts have made arrangements for us to stay at the Gloria Plaza Hotel in Suzhou, The hotel is a 5-minute walk to Suzhou University where conference sessions will be held. The reduced hotel price per night for our conference group is approximately 350 RMB (approximately $50 USD) per night, for either single or double occupancy.


Upon completion of Conference Registration, a hotel reservation will be made for you by our Chinese hosts. They have secured the preferred hotel rooms for our group. Your payments to the hotel will be made individually, on-site. Our hosts have asked that you not make individual hotel reservations.


MEALS: Breakfast is included at the host hotel and a banquet/dinner will be provided for all attendees during the conference. Other meals are on your own and locations will be suggested or otherwise made available.


AIRPORT & TRANSPORTATION: Attendees can fly to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport or Shanghai Pudong Airport, either of which has easy access by bus or express train to Suzhou Railway Station. Additional travel details will be added to the ISCSC website as they become available. Plans are being explored to have university student volunteers available to assist conference attendees with details on-site.


PRESENTATIONS AT THE CONFERENCE: If you are interested in presenting a paper at the conference, please see our Call for Papers document and consider submitting an Abstract according to the instructions. The deadline to submit Abstracts is March 20, 2018. A Poster Session in addition to formal presentations is under consideration and included on the CFP.
